The theme “Public spaces: circulation of discourses and models” brings together research which, for more than thirty years, has been interested in contributing to the empirical and theoretical study of social logics concerning public spaces. Characterized by interdisciplinarity (historical, sociological, political, anthropological and semio-discursive approaches), the research within the team is also firmly anchored in the disciplinary base of information and communication sciences. It seeks to bring to light the evolutions and continuities of media practices and devices. The work of the theme can be articulated around questions of the making of the norm, its circulation and its receptions.
The research work focuses on the press, the audiovisual media and the media industries. They aim to shed light, without sacrificing the complexity of the phenomena studied, on their articulation with the political sphere and the private sphere in production, circulation and reception. Thus, the study of the media, the study of public policies and ordinary discourse on information, communication and the media, the study of digital devices, for example, are combined with those of democracy, law, emancipation, social control, formation of opinions and representations, debate, consecration, struggles, criticism, independence, immigration, gender, uses.…
