Born in 1947, Roger Bautier is a professor emeritus since 2015. After serving as a teaching assistant and then an associate professor, he was appointed full professor at the Department of Communication Sciences at the University of Paris 13 (now Sorbonne Paris Nord University) in 1993. He has been a member of LabSIC since 1993.
His works focuse primarily on the history of conceptions of information and communication and their sociopolitical implications from the 19th to the 21st century.
