About

Némésis Srour is an anthropologist specialising in the transnational circulation of Hindi films in the Middle East. She holds a PhD in social anthropology and ethnology from the EHESS. Her work documents the distribution networks that brought Indian cinema to Beirut, Cairo, and Dubai from the 1950s onwards — a historical anthropology of South-South film circuits.

Her research sits at the intersection of the anthropology of film networks and the economics of cultural industries. Alongside her academic work, she works as an AI & Innovation Product Manager in the media industry, and explores questions of cultural circulation in the age of algorithms and digital platforms.
