Jeremy Vachet

Jérémy Vachet obtained a PhD from the School of Media and Communication at the University of Leeds (United Kingdom) in 2019. His thesis focuses on the psychosocial impacts of precariousness and insecurity in a neoliberal context among independent musicians. Since 2019, he has been a senior lecturer in the Culture and Communication Department at Audencia in Nantes (France) and an associate member of the LabSIC at Paris-Nord Sorbonne University. His recent publications include the book Fantasy, Neoliberalism and Precariousness published by Emerald (2022), the article ‘Toward a sociological explanation of anxiety: Precariousness, class and gender among independent musicians’ in The Sociological Review (2024), and ‘Utopia isn’t for Everyone’: Career inequalities and coping strategies among independent female musicians, in the journal Biens Symboliques.
